Here’s why Deepika opened up about depression

Deepika Padukoneis one of the talented actresses of Hindi cinema has witnessed. The actress has come a long way in Bollywood and established herself as an A-list star in the industry. By delivering stellar performances in her various films she won millions of hearts.
And recently in an interview with Harper Bazaar magazine, she talked about her love life, career and her battle with depression. The actress said that she felt “extremely liberating” after opening up about her mental health. Talking about why she opened up about depression and mental health, she said, “Now, not a single day goes by that people aren’t comfortable to talk to me about their mental health. And I give them my time. There’s nothing more important than that, to listen. That in itself is an achievement for me and for the cause. That was really my motivation, to have people talk about mental health, the way we talk about our physical health.”

She further revealed that it was her mother who helped her to get through this phase. Deepika said, “I didn’t know why I would feel directionless. Why I felt like I didn’t want to live anymore. Why I felt I wanted to give up everything. Why I would just break down or have bouts of anxiety or start sweating suddenly. I had no idea why any of it happened, and it was my mother who happened to catch me in one of these moments.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika will be next seen in Meghna Gulzar‘s ‘Chhapaak’, a film based on an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film also stars Vikrant Massey as the male lead. It will release in January 2020.

On the other hand, she will also feature in Kabir Khan‘s sports drama ’83’ with Ranveer Singh. In the film, Ranveer will be seen as Kapil Dev while Deepika will play the role of Kapil’s wife Romi Dev.

The film has been slated for April 2020 release.
