National Testing Agency, NTA conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam, NEET 2020 on Sunday, September 13. Around 85 to 90 percent of students appeared for the examination that was conducted across the country in 3000+ exam centers, revealed Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
The Education Minister in his tweet thanked the Chief Ministers of the state and NTA for proper arrangements that were made for the conduct of the exam to facilitate student participation.
As per data, around 15.97 lakh students registered for the exam out of which 15 lakh students appeared for the NEET 2020 examination. The NEET was held on Sunday across the country amid stringent checks and protocols in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Odisha, an estimated 88 percent of the total candidates appeared for the medical entrance exam. NEET State Nodal officer Polly Patnaik while speaking to PTI said, “An estimated 88 percent of the candidates appeared for the NEET examination today.” A total of 37,459 candidates have registered for the examination.
The students were allowed entry into the exam centers after thermal screening and masks, sanitizers. The exam centers were increased to maintain social distancing and other COVID measures.
Students who appeared for the exam were quite satisfied with the SOPs that were followed in the exam center from entry to the exam hall. But similarly, the social distancing norms were not at all followed outside the exam center where parents and guardians of the aspirants did not maintain any social distancing protocols.
The test was offered in 11 languages – English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu this year. Based on the initial report, more than 77 percent of aspirants took the test in English, around 12 percent in Hindi, and 11 percent in other languages. The NEET 2020 Answer Key is expected to release soon by the National Testing Agency. Till then appeared candidates can check the detailed subject wise exam analysis to know how they performed.
