NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called the governors an important pillar of ‘Janbhagidari’ in the battle against Covid-19.
At a meeting with the governors, PM Modi urged them to spread message about vaccination, treatment and also create awareness about AYUSH-related remedies.
“Combined power of all community organisations, political parties, NGOs, social institutions needs to be harnessed in Covid-19 fight,” PM Modi said.
The PM told the governors that the government is committed to ensuring adequate availability of vaccines.
The PM suggested that the governors can actively engage to ensure that social institutions collaborate seamlessly with the state governments towards micro containment.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, home minister Amit Shah and health minister Harsh Vardhan also participated in the virtual interaction on the issue of the Covid-19 situation.
There is a need to focus on better utilization of facilities at university and college campuses, PM Modi said, adding that like the last year NCC and NSS have a key role to play this year as well.
The vaccination drive has been expanded as new vaccination centres came up during 4-day ‘Tika Utsav’, PM Modi added.
